Harmoni Farmasi Berkelanjutan - Universitas Brawijaya

Sustainable Pharmaceutical Harmony

Integrative, Collaborative Architecture Rooted in Majapahit Heritage

Department of Pharmacy Building
Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya

The Department of Pharmacy Building at Universitas Brawijaya is envisioned as a monumental, green, and human-centered academic icon. The design integrates the heritage values of the Majapahit era through a clean white façade accented with andesite stone, modern grey tones, and terracotta elements, while presenting a translational and integrative architectural approach that supports education, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The six-storey building adopts a modular structural system and features three inclusive lobbies, open balconies, breathable corridors, and a naturally lit auditorium. West–east façade innovations — including sun shading devices, planter boxes, and concealed air-conditioning systems — enhance both environmental performance and visual aesthetics. Collaborative spaces such as coworking areas, gazebos, and generous green open spaces foster a social, pedestrian-friendly environment.

Supported by sustainability strategies including rainwater harvesting, solar panels, and locally sourced materials, the building serves as a monumental gateway representing Universitas Brawijaya’s vision toward becoming a world-class research university.
