Woven Dreams
“Crafting Dubai’s Urban Soul for Tomorrow”
Designing for Dubai’s Growth, Climate, and Mobility Needs
Today, Dubai has grown into a highly populated city with significant ethnic diversity. With the Dubai 2040 Master Plan under consideration, typical metropolitan problems such as segregation, pollution, high traffic, and climate challenges can be mitigated. To accommodate Dubai’s rapid population growth, public spaces and public transportation facilities will be implemented. Shading elements will also be installed in numerous public spaces to address Dubai’s harsh climate conditions, which pose challenges for cyclists and pedestrians. The design is grounded in an evidence-based approach, informed by site analysis, environmental data, and user behaviour, ensuring context-responsive and user-oriented interventions. Our design of the right of way is carefully adapted to the site context and user needs, focusing on human-scale comfort to ensure a safe and pleasant environment despite the climate challenges. This includes facilitating Dubai 2040’s plans by integrating dedicated lanes for bicycles, trams, metro, Etihad routes, and buses, creating a comprehensive and seamless mobility network that supports sustainable and comfortable travel.
